Fire & Water - Cleanup & Restoration

Swamps are perfectly normal, but NOT in your house!

Trees like these are used to withstanding water, your furniture? not so much...

Imagine coming home to a swamp in your living room?

Take a few seconds to visualize everything that would be affected if this happened to you, the couch/furniture, the carpet/flooring, toys, electrical equipment, the walls...it’s a mess right?

When we arrive on-scene at a loss like this, the first thing we do is remove and standing water (suck out the swamp!) now depending on where the water came from and how long it has been sitting, we can salvage contents. Best case scenario, the water was fresh, cold, and recent. If water is hot it breaks down materials faster, if water is contaminated by sewage or other sources (if it was a drain line instead of supply) the contents may be very limited as to what we can save.

Next step will be removing all items that can be salvaged and leaving all contents that can be cleaned and dried in place. Cleaning items in place is possible with a clean water source (such as a supply line) most likely losses this large are from supply lines and many have to have the main water to the house shut-off until the source of the leak is fixed. Drying items in place can sometimes be achieved, even with carpet. Most often we will remove the affected carpet pad and float the carpet with air beneath it to dry it out (This is only if the water source was clean).

A house-turned-swamp can be a big hassle and a huge inconvenience, but SERVPRO can return you home to the sanctuary that it was before the water invaded, and we can help you every step of the way in addressing and answering you questions and concerns about the loss.
